Lessons & Leasing at Suffield Stables
Welcome to Suffield Stables, where riders of all levels can grow their partnership with the horse in a friendly, supportive, and safe environment. We focus on correct basics, clear communication, and confidence-building for both horse and rider.
Our lesson horses are kind, well-mannered, and carefully matched to each rider’s ability. While they’re not “push-button” school horses, they are safe, responsive, and always supervised during lessons. Riders learn to develop feel, balance, and effective aids while enjoying their time with well-trained horses.
What We Offer:
- Private and semi-private lessons for beginners through lower-level dressage riders
- Focus on confidence, balance, and harmony
- Lesson horses available for all experience levels
- Flexible scheduling on weeknights and weekends
💫 Lessons include foundational flatwork, dressage, and groundwork
Rates:
- $45 Private Lesson (new students)
- $35 Semi-Private Lesson (after evaluation)
All new riders begin with private lessons to ensure safety and a strong foundation. Returning students continue at their current rate.
🌟 Advanced Dressage Instruction:
Our resident trainer is available for lessons on select lesson horses on Thursdays (limited spots available).
With over 25 years of experience and training horses through the FEI levels, she provides guidance for riders seeking advanced instruction.
Rates:
$50 per lesson (when multiple lessons are scheduled back-to-back)
$60 per single lesson
Barn/Horse Fee: $10 per lesson when our trainer teaches a student on a lesson horse.
This covers the use of the horse, tack, and facilities while ensuring everyone is compensated fairly.
🌿 Leasing Opportunities:
Looking to ride more consistently without full ownership? We offer partial or full leases, depending on the horse and rider. Leasing allows riders to build confidence, strengthen skills, and enjoy regular saddle time while still having the support of our lesson program and barn staff.
Leases Include:
- Regular access to the same horse for practice and connection
- Opportunities to participate in lessons and schooling shows
- Supportive environment for goal-setting and learning
- Flexible arrangements based on experience, availability, and the horse
